Lega Basket Serie A

The Lega Basket Serie A, Serie A for short, is the highest basketball league in Italy.

History

The league was founded in 1920. Since 1925, it is organized by the Federazione Italiana Pallacanestro, the Italian Basketball Federation.

In 1974, she was in two game seasons, the series A1 and A2 divided the series. As of the 2001 /02 season, the game scales were divided into two independent leagues. The teams from the former Serie A1 henceforth played in Lega Basket Serie A and the teams of the former series A2 in the now autonomous organized Legadue.
