İlhan Selçuk

İlhan Selçuk ( born March 11, 1925 in Aydın, Turkey, † June 21, 2010 in Istanbul, Turkey ) was one of the most famous Turkish journalist. He was chief editor of the daily newspaper Cumhuriyet and author of numerous books.

Selçuk was born in 1925 as son of the officer Kasim Bey in Aydın. He studied law at Istanbul University and graduated from in 1950. He then worked as a lawyer and journalist. In 1963 he began his work as a columnist of Cumhuriyet, whose editor in chief, he was later.

Selçuk was considered a strictly secular and was a critic of the AKP -led government under the premiership of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
