Ilona Elek
Ilona Elek - Schacherer (also known as elec- haggler ) ( born May 17, 1907 in Budapest, † July 24, 1988 ibid ) was a Hungarian Foil Fencing.
Life
The exceptional athlete started at the age of 26 years with the participation in competitions. With your victory in the foil - women's singles 1936, she was the first Hungarian gold medalist at the Olympic Games.
After the Olympic games were in 1940 and 1944 failed due to the Second World War, Your followed in 1948 again the Olympic victory.
Even at the age of 48 she won the bronze medal in singles and gold with the team at the World Championships in 1955. At the age of 50 years, she ended her active career.
Ilona Elek died in 1988 and is buried in the cemetery in Budapest Farkasréti.
Achievements
She took part in three Olympic Games, where she won one medal ( 2 gold, 1 silver ).
The multiple Hungarian national champion in foil fencing in 1934, 1935 and 1951 at the age of 44 years Individual World Champion.
