IMADEC (full company name: IMADEC Executive Education GmbH) is a private provider of vocational education continues in Vienna, Austria.
History
IMADEC was founded in 1991 as an International Management Development Consulting. In the early years the school was a partner of California State University, Hayward ( CSUH ); the academic degrees were first awarded by the CSUH.
2001 IMADEC was accredited as the second private university in Austria.
The contract between IMADEC and the California State University, Hayward was disbanded in 2002 because there were disagreements. Beginning with university-level courses
In September 1999 IMADEC got in Austria the right to offer a course of university character with the degree of MBA. This MBA program was accredited from 1996 to early 2005 by FIBAA.
Temporary accreditation as a private university
IMADECs state accreditation as a private university with three postgraduate courses began on 2 January 2001 and was initially limited to 5 years (2001-2006: IMADEC private university ). The extension has been applied shortly before the deadline, but the accreditation expired on 1 January 2006. In May 2006, the application was first rejected: this was attributed to missing documents. Despite subsequent filing of various documents of the Austrian Accreditation Council rejected the application for renewed accreditation in August 2006 from definitive, since the requirements of § 2 para 1 UniAkkG were not met. The Accreditation Council procured the Commercial Court of Vienna in 2007, a deletion of unauthorized firms wording IMADEC University.
Unlawful award of honorary titles
On 28 April 2006, the Austrian Administrative Court decided that a right conferred in 2003 by IMADEC to Alexandre Lamfalussy honorary doctorate ( honorary DBA) was unlawful because private universities may not confer honorary degrees. The awarding of academic degrees is normalized in UniAkkG only in connection with degrees and provides no control over the awarding of academic honors. Several other Arnold Schwarzenegger (DBA ), Franz Vranitzky (DBA ), Wim Duisenberg (DBA ) and Siegbert Alber ( LL.D. ) conferred by IMADEC honorary doctorates are now also to be considered as invalid (see detail here). According to the current interpretation of the judgment are all ceremonies of the academic honorary degrees MLE hc, hc MBA, LL.M. hc, but also academic honorary title as honorary senator or honorary citizen invalid.
Nevertheless, an honorary doctorate (Doctor of Laws ) was awarded in October 2011 at a graduation ceremony of former Mexican President Vicente Fox.
Development after the loss of university status
On 28 August 2006, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture decided that the three study programs IMADEC may continue to operate as a university-type courses. This form of state recognition was due to expire at the end of 2010, but was extended in February 2010 to the end of 2012. Requests for approval of courses of university character could only be made by the end of 2003. Since IMADEC then had the status of a private university, applications would have been addressed to the Accreditation Council for University courses. According to the Accreditation Council of the application for re-accreditation was only recently introduced.
Insolvency proceedings in 2010
On June 18, 2010, the bankruptcy of the IMADEC Executive Education GmbH was opened on the Vienna Commercial Court at the request of a creditor. Restoration plan On 26 August 2010 adopted by the court and lifted the bankruptcy. Accordingly, the creditors will receive within 2 years in several installments 100 % of their claims.
IMADEC is a limited liability company; the exact company name changed several times. Over the years, various owners were involved. Currently (2012 ) is the managing director Christian Joksch absolute majority shareholder, other shareholders are involved only small deposits.
