Imoru Egala

Alhaji Imoru Egala (* 1914, † April 2, 1981 in New York, USA; well Imoro Egala ) was a leading politician of Ghana. He held, among other things, the position of foreign minister in the Ghanaian Republic 1960-1961 and founded the later ruling party People's National Party.

Career

Egala was under the administration of President Kwame Nkrumah as a member of the Convention People's Party (CPP ) held various posts in the Cabinet. He was 1960-1961 Ghanaian Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Information. After the military coup against Nkrumah Egala was considered one of the most important political leaders in the country remained among the supporters of the former president.

Egala is a founding father of the People's National Party (PHP) that could decide both the presidential election with Dr Hilla Aeschlimann and the parliamentary elections in 1979. Egala financed the election campaign Limanns to the vast majority. The PHP is a successor party of the political direction of Nkrumah 's. Some sources report Egala myself can not accept the nomination because he was excluded from the exercise of political office at this time.

Family and death

Imoru Egala was the uncle of President Aeschlimann. His death in 1981 was a result of a heart attack. He stood to organize shortly before leaving for Europe and Asia to provide financial assistance to Ghana. Hajia Mahama Aliu Ramatu is the sixth child of Egala and wife of the famous Ghanaian politician Aliu Mahama.
