Imperial Crown of Brazil

The crown of the Empire of Brazil ( Portuguese Coroa do Império do Brasil ), also known as crown Dom Pedro II, was the coronation of the Emperor of Brazil, Pedro II of the goldsmith Carlos Martin produced in Rio de Janeiro.

History

It was presented to the public on July 8, 1841, just before on 18 July of the same year took place the coronation.

The crown is made of gold, has eight crown straps that come together in the middle and wear a orb, whose cross is decorated with diamonds. Inside the crown is a dark green velvet cap. The crown is set with 639 precious stones, mainly diamonds and 77 pearls, has a diameter of 205 mm, a height of 310 mm and weighs 1955 g

After the end of the monarchy in 1889, the crown, along with the other crown jewels were kept under wraps. Since 1943 she is in the imperial palace, now the Imperial Museum of Brazil issued in Petrópolis.
