Imperial Royal Privileged Austrian State Railway Company

The privileged Austro -Hungarian State Railway Company ( StEG ), Hungarian: Cs. k szab. Osztrák - Magyar Államvasúttársaság was a private railway company in the former Austria - Hungary.

History

The StEG was founded on October 17, 1854 mainly French capital and acquired on January 1, 1855 by the Austrian state, the Northern and the Southeastern state railways. Hence the name of the new company is derived. Through the acquisition of k.k. priv Vienna - Raab train on February 13, 1855, the Brno - Rossitzer Railway on January 1, 1870 and the construction of routes grew the network of StEG to 1890 in the Austrian half of 1350 km of; this came about 1500 km in Hungary.

On October 15, 1909, the StEG was nationalized and therefore part of the kkStB. Set in Hungary distances were ( in 1920 came to BBÖ ) in addition to the sections Bruck- nickel village and Marchegg boundary, the 1891 Hungarian State Railways MÁV passed.

The StEG in Austria today

In today's Austria, the network of StEG compounds encompassed 255 km. The starting point was the state railway station in Vienna, later the East Railway Station, which is part of the South Station today. To the south, led a major route in the direction of Budapest Götzdorf to Bruck an der Leitha (1846), which started up in 1920 Hungarian territory, the present border station nickel village (1855 ). 1884 by her chain in Götzdorf one hand lanes to Klein Schwechat and on the other by men from the village. From Bruck since 1886/87 resulted in a series on Bad German Altenburg to Hainburg an der Donau.

The opened in 1870 from Vienna to the north crossed the Danube and then divided into Stadlau east toward Marchegg - Bratislava and to the north via mistletoe Bach - Laa an der Thaya to Brno. 1888 came the railway branch of Grossenzersdorf bei Staatz added to Poysdorf. Urban transport in Vienna since 1886, served a short distance from the Erdbergerlände towards the racecourse Freudenau.
