Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing

Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing ( ISTD ) is an international membership organization that was founded in 1904 by dance teachers in UK.

History

The foundation of the organization resulted by a taken place in 1904 meeting of 200 dance teachers in the Hotel Cecil, in the London district of Covent Garden. The teachers recognized during this meeting, the need for an organization to protect their interests and establishing standards of teaching and decided to set up, which she completed shortly thereafter on July 25, 1904 at the Hotel Cecil. The first president Robert Morris Crompton was chosen. The members met at intervals from 1906 to congresses. Since 1907, the organization publishes a publication named Dance Journal, today DANCE Magazine. In 1924 the existing up to the present structure with faculties, according to individual dance forms and techniques. First faculties were, inter alia: ballroom dancing, classical ballet, Classical Greek dancing and Natural movement.

Dancesport

  • Latin American dances ( social dances and Tournament )
  • Standard dances ( or social dances tournament )
  • Disco, Freestyle and Rock ' n ' Roll Dance
  • Latin ( American ) Dance Club (eg: Salsa, Tango, Merengue, etc.)
  • Sequence Dance ( for example: dance, line dance and square dance )
