Impressionist (entertainment)

An impersonator is a person who has the talent to imitate another person such that a third party (eg a viewer, listener or audience) recognizes the impersonated person.

Often it is in imitation of an art form that is closely linked to the parody in cabaret and satire.

A form of imitation is the vocal imitation. These in turn can be distinguished is whether the speech of a person is imitated, or their singing. Thus, celebrities and politicians are imitated to let this occur in skits or "put into his mouth " them satirically exaggerated words.

But even in movies occur imitations, such as when passages must be re- synchronized, the original speaker but not (no longer ) available. Thus, the original voice actor was copied from another actor because of Fred Flintstone's " Urstimme " wanted to have too high a salary for example, a German new scoring of the Flintstones.

Since film projects are very expensive, it happens that scenes with actors who died during the filming, are made with the help of vocal impersonators and body Doublen to an end (see, for example, Natalie Wood and the film Brainstorm ).

The other form of imitation is to mimic the appearance of a person. This often doubles mentioned artists see a known person, sometimes through the use of make-up, very similar.

The difference to the pure double, for example, for photo shoots, consists in the fact that the impersonator even goes a step further by also always tried besides the resemblance to a person whose characteristics reproduce (see generally: acting, actor).

A combination of different techniques, for example, apply imitation of Elvis impersonators that copy the well-known singer and actor in appearance, singing and dancing.
