Independent Party (Uruguay)

The Partido Independiente is a political party in Uruguay.

It is classified center-left on the political spectrum and social-democratic oriented to Christian- social.

The chair, which was founded in 2003 PI - Partido Independiente Pablo Mieres held, which also took in each case as a presidential candidate in the 2004 election and 2009.

Based on the acquired share of the vote it is the fourth largest party in the country and also the smallest represented in Parliament. In the 2004 election, they could unite 1.89% of the vote and gained thereby a seat in the Cámara de Representantes, which was occupied by Mr Iván Posada. In 2009, the share of the vote easily be expanded to just under 2.5%, which resulted in the House of Representatives to win another mandate. Policy makers in the current legislature are so Iván Posada for the Department of Montevideo and Daniel Radio for the Department of Canelones, in its place by the El País first Dardo Rodriguez was announced as an elected Member of Parliament. In the Senate, the party is against it as well, not already represented on the ballot five years earlier.
