Indica (Finnish band)

Indica is a Finnish pop rock band that has released seven studio albums to date. The group referred to their style as mystic romantic pop.

History

Indica was founded in 2001 by schoolmates Jonsu (violin) and Heini ( bass), who had met in a youth string orchestra. Shortly after the inauguration, Sirkku (keyboards ) and Jenny (guitar) and Laura (drums), the band with a.

Jani Jalonen of Sony BMG Music Finland became interested in the band and offered them after a gig at a record deal, which was signed in early 2003.

The first album Ikuinen Virta was soon afterwards and was published in the same year. This is in contrast to the subsequent pictures less experimentally for poppy and faster. The single from the album of the same name quickly became a huge success in Finland and the band with numerous appearances at renowned festivals. The album received the 2004 Platinum for 32 444 copies sold in the summer.

A year later came the second album Tuuliset Tienoot and 2007 appeared with Kadonnut Puutarha the third album of Indica. Both albums act mature and bear witness of the mystical -tinged songwriting, for the Indica is known today.

From autumn 2007 Indica played in Scandinavia as the opening act for Nightwish, which significantly increased its international visibility. Due to good relations, the Nightwish -songwriter Tuomas Holopainen decided to leave Jonsu to sing on the Finnish version of the instrumental tracks Last of the Wild, what Indica helped to international breakthrough. In addition, Holopainen took on the task of the producers for the new album by Indica. The album, entitled Valoissa was published on 17 September 2008. Pahinta tänään was previously released as E-Single; the title track Valoissa followed three weeks before the album release. In June 2010, the fifth album, which for the first time includes songs with English lyrics appeared.   • Johanna " Jonsu " Salomaa, born on 18 January 1984 in Espoo, is the lead singer and lead singer of the band. In addition, she plays the violin, guitar and piano.
