Ineu

Inew ( German outdated Jenopol, Hungarian Borosjenő, Croatian / Serbian Jenopolje / Јенопоље ) is a town in the district of Arad ( Romania).

Geographical location

Inew lies in western Romania, the western edge of the Apuseni Mountains, on both sides of the river Crisul Alb ( White yelp ). The county capital Arad is located about 50 km southwest.

History

The story of Inew is closely connected to the castle, which was first mentioned in 1295. The castle was at the time of the Kingdom of Hungary center of a large feudal rule, were among the 51 villages from time to time. After the Battle of Mohács ( 1526), the town was in 1541 part of the Principality of Transylvania. 1566, the Turks conquered Inew. 1595 became Transylvania, in 1599 briefly the Wallachian prince Michael the Brave in control of the place before it was again part of Transylvania. The Peace of Karlowitz came Inew 1699 Austria - Hungary. Once was no longer by the Peace of Passarowitz (1718 ) Inew near the border, it lost its importance; the castle fell into disrepair. In the 19th century Inew developed into a local economic center. 1849 place during the Hungarian Revolution was occupied by Russian troops. 1870, the castle was restored in neoclassical style. 1877 Inew connection received on the railway network. After the First World War it came to Romania.

1967 was awarded Inew city status.

The main industries are agriculture, livestock and fish farming, textile and electrical industries.

Population

1850 lived on the territory of today's 5,834 people, including 3,374 Romanians, 1550 Hungarians, 262 German and 229 Slovaks. In 1992 the population of 10,915 with its peak and has since been on the decline. As of the 2002 census, 10,207 residents were registered in Inew, including 8,740 Romanians, 860 Hungarians, 517 Roma, 47 German and 29 Slovaks. 9,312 people lived in the city proper, Inew in the strict sense, 895 in eingemeindeten place Mocrea.

Traffic

Inew has a station on the route from Arad to Brad. The town also has branches off a branch line to Cermei. In the places mentioned several daily commuter trains. Also of importance of the bus ( regular connections to Oradea ).

Recreational Sports

To reactivate the former airfield Mocrea, the "Aero- Club Inew " was founded. The association has set itself the goal to expand the air sports in the region around Inew. It will include the establishment of a flight school in order for all who are interested in the fly to provide appropriate training.
