Ingo Petzke

Ingo Petzke ( born September 18, 1947 in Belém, near Osnabrück ) is an international German (film) scientist, filmmaker and author.

Life

Ingo Petzke grew up in Osnabrück. He studied at the Universities of Münster and Bochum and graduated in 1973 with a Master of Arts in Journalism combination of subjects, Scandinavian Studies and History from New.

Petzke began his professional career in 1976 in Bad Oeynhausen one of the youngest people Provost Germany, however, turned more and more to the film. Among others, he worked for several years in the Festival Commission of the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen and founded in 1980 with his students ( including Heiko Daxl, Jochen Coldewey, Ralf Sausmikat, Alfred Rotert ) Osnabrück experimental film workshop, which trades as European Media Art Festival since 1988.

In 1974 he had a first teaching of film at the Ruhr- University Bochum and from 1978 to 1983 at the University of Osnabrück. There have since followed teaching assignments in 29 countries, including New Zealand, Hong Kong, Chile, Argentina, USA and Canada. In 1986 he became the first foreigner after the revolution honored by the Government of the Philippines for " International Contribution to Philippine Independent Cinema "

His ( experimental ) short films were shown at numerous national and international festivals and have repeatedly encouraged. From 1976 - 2000 his company CINE PRO worked as the only German special rental for experimental film. In the 80 years Petzke was a member of the film advisory board of the Goethe Institute, for which he put together several packages for experimental and short film. Under the label 'Red Avocado film ' he laid since 2008 DVDs to the international experimental film.

Since 1983 Petzke is a professor of film at the Faculty of Design of the Fachhochschule Würzburg -Schweinfurt Wuerzburg. He has long lived and worked in Australia: 1992 as a Visiting Professor at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, and from 2001 to 2006 as an Associate Professor at Bond University. There he received his doctorate in 2004 for PhD with a dissertation on the cumulative experimental film. In 2006 he received his doctorate at the University of Osnabrück in addition to the Dr. phil. in English Language and Literature with a film- historical work on the Australian Hollywood director Phillip Noyce. Since 2008 he is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Creative Arts at James Cook University in Townsville / Australia and since 2009 Honorary Fellow of the " Cairns Institute ( for Research in the Tropics ) ," Australia.

His main interest is the history of the international avant-garde (from 2008 to 2011 he was director of the Steinbeis Research Center Experimental film ) and more recently the Australian film. He has also repeatedly conducted research for curriculum development.

Petzke is a member of the " Association of German Film Critics " ( VDFK ) and the "Screen Producers Association of Australia" ( SPAA ).
