George Gently - The Incorruptible ( Inspector George Gently and George Gently in the pilot episode and the first season ) is a British television crime series based on the novels by Alan Hunter. The role of the Inspector is played by Martin Shaw and Detective Sergeant John Bacchus by Lee Ingleby. The series takes place in the 1960s. The venue of the films lies in Northumberland and County Durham ( extreme north-east coast of England on the border with Scotland ) against Norfolk (East Coast) in the books. Hunter wrote from 1955 to 1999 a total of 46 George Gently novels, which were strongly adapted for the TV version.

The pilot and the first two episodes of the series were broadcast by ZDF in Germany in 2009. As of May 8, 2011 a total of six more episodes of seasons two and three were to be seen every Sunday on ZDF. In early September 2011, the two episodes of the fourth season of BBC One were broadcast, September 2012, followed by the four episodes of the fifth season.

Trivia

The pilot holds the peculiarity that Martin Shaw and Webster actor Philip Davis again as in the very first episode of the series confront The Professionals ( Perfect plan with small errors) than opponents. At the time, Davis played the young Billy Turner, who armed with a hand grenade, a nurse hostage taking.
