Gillies MacKinnon

Gillies MacKinnon ( born January 8, 1948 in Glasgow, Scotland ) is a British film director and screenwriter. He became internationally known through the movies The Playboys, Twist of Fate, Small Faces, Marrakech and a house in Ireland.

Life and career

Gillies MacKinnon, born in Glasgow in 1948, after studying the mural painting at the Glasgow School of Art, first as an art teacher and a professional cartoonist. Subsequently, he studied from 1983 to 1986 at the National Film and Television School to make a career in the film industry. His graduation film Passing Glory, celebrated in 1986 at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 's premiere, where she won the first prize.

His TV movie debut, he finally gave in 1989 with the adventure drama Conquest of the South Pole. 1992 staged MacKinnon then with the romantic drama The Playboys with Albert Finney and Aidan Quinn in the lead roles, his first feature film.
