The Institute Supérieur de l' aéronautique et de l' espace ( ISAE ) is a French engineering school ( grande école ). It forms within three years of aeronautical engineers. It is a merger of the École Nationale Supérieure de l' Aéronautique et de l' Espace ( SUPAERO / ENSAE ) and the École nationale supérieure d' Ingénieurs de constructions aéronautiques ( ENSICA ). The merger was completed in summer 2007.

École Nationale Supérieure de l' Aéronautique et de l' Espace

The École Nationale Supérieure de l' Aéronautique et de l' Espace ( National School of Aerospace ) or ENSAE, also known by the acronym SUPAERO, is one of the most prestigious colleges for engineers in France. The to German engineering programs are very general in comparison training usually takes three years.

History

1909 establishes the engineer officer Jean -Baptiste Roche École Supérieure in Paris d' Aéronautique et de Constructions Mécaniques. This should meet the increasing demand for engineers of the growing aviation industry. In 1930 she will École Nationale and bears since 1972 its current name.

Since 1968 is the SUPAERO in Toulouse, both industrially and scientifically one of the major air and space locations in Europe. Affiliated to the university research facilities of the Centre d' Études et de Recherche de Toulouse are (CERT ), part of which is now the ONERA (Office National d' Études et de Recherches Aérospatiales ). Here research in aerospace and defense is being operated.

Training

After the two-year Classe Préparatoire ( prep schools for the study of Grandes Ecoles ), students are selected for the three-year diploma program through a Concours (ranked by national examinations ). The course is extremely regimented. The first year is general in nature, there are mainly taught mathematics and physics. In the second year, the formation of some specific direction aerospace, but offers a range of non- technical and scientific choices. In the third year a well is selected, the conclusion is comparable with a German diploma thesis Projet de Fin d' Études ( PFE). Throughout the study two foreign language courses must be assigned (one English), in the first two years, there is also cultural and physical education.

After the second year there is the opportunity to complete a one year internship. This may, if it meets certain requirements to be recognized as PFE. Similarly, a one-year study abroad (substitution) or a two-year double degree program at one of the partner universities are completed (including University of Stuttgart, RWTH Aachen, TU Berlin). Similarly, the SUPAERO welcomes every year a few dozen foreign students.

The completion of the SUPAERO is considered very high, especially in France. Graduates will be used primarily in management positions. The broad and general training means that 50 % of them work in other industries such as finance.

The campus

The campus is located in the SUPAERO Rangueil on the Canal du Midi and is surrounded by the universities ENAC and INSA and the University Paul Sabatier. In addition to the lecture hall and laboratories, there are extensive sports facilities and three student dormitories, which house the majority of students in 470 rooms.
