Interlinear gloss

The Inter Linear Morphemglossierung, short Interlinearglossierung, is a method of linguistics, in which a mostly foreign-language statement word for word is glossed anaysierend. The analyzed glosses are doing inter - linearly written on a separate line, between the lines with the words of the analyzed language and translation. In contrast to simpler Interlinear Translation and the individual words are analyzed in terms of their morphemic structure in general.

Glossierungsspezifische transcription line

In written language utterances, it is occasionally necessary to insert another row with a Glossierungstranskription.

This may be the case for one if the analyzed written language was written in a non- Latin -based font. With regard to the non-specialist reader / the non-specialist reader, it is then customary to implement the original header row in a Latinized transliteration or transcription.

Secondly, the text to be analyzed may be provided with philological edition marks. Then it is occasionally necessary to leave these marks in the / a separate Glossierungstranskriptionszeile or implement to avoid confusion with the similar looking marks the Interlinearglossierung (see below) should be avoided.

Linear vs. Inter Morphemglossierung. Interlinear translation

Inter Linear Morphemglossierung can - be operated in various degrees of detail - depending on the requirement and purpose. The scale ranges from a complete analysis of all morphemes on the analysis of only selected morphemes up to the ( almost) complete abandonment of the analysis of grammatical morphemes. In the latter case, one can also speak of an Interlinear Translation.

Note that the last option is a basic rule of linguistic Interlinearglossierung injured ( one- to - several counterparts, other use of parentheses, structural parallelism) and therefore can not be designated as such.
