International Committee of Architectural Critics

The Comité Internacional de Arquitectura de Críticos (CICA ) was founded on October 26, 1978, during the 13th World Congress of the International Association of Architektekten (UIA ) in Mexico City, and is the International Committee of Architectural Critics.

The headquarters of the non-profit organization was established in Paris due to the spatial proximity to the UIA. Furthermore, there was the main residence of the long-standing chairman Pierre Vago. The Secretariat was originally placed in Buenos Aires because Jorge Glusberg, but can be moved around the world at the decision, depending on the principal residence of the Chairman. The founding members included names such as Pierre Vago, Bruno Zevi, Max Blumenthal, Mildred Schmertz, Blake Hughes, Jorge Glusberg, Louise Noelle Gras de Mereles and Julius Posener.

CICA prices

Originally, the prices of the committee bore the name CICA Award. Since 2003, the CICA awards were given names of the CICA founding members. The award of the CICA CICA Book Awards as the first prize was decided at the 14th UIA World Congress 1981. CICA Special prizes were for the China Architecture & Building Press ( CABP ) and Springer-Verlag for the series " World Architecture: A Critical Mosaic 1900-2000 ".
