International Superstar Soccer

International Superstar Soccer (ISS ) is the name of a football video game series by the Japanese company Konami. The games have appeared on various game consoles. The series is known as Jikkyō World Soccer in Japan.

History

The first game, Konami Hyper Soccer, appeared at the end of 1991 for the NES and was Konami's first football game for this platform. Although it is not a game from the ISS series, in principle, the success of this Match was sufficient to convince Konami of International Superstar Soccer for the Super Nintendo ( published under the name Perfect Eleven in Japan) to develop and publish in 1994. An improved version, International Superstar Soccer Deluxe (in Japan: Fighting Eleven ), a year later appeared also for the Super Nintendo in 1996 for the Sega Mega Drive and 1997 in a slightly revised and expanded version for the Playstation, which is then gave a complete audio commentary.

In the years 1997 and 1998, published several titles, including the second and third part of the Winning Eleven series ( outside of Japan known as ISS Pro and ISS Pro 98), but the first major European game since ISS Deluxe International Superstar Soccer was 98 for the Nintendo 64, which was commercially successful.

At the beginning of the new century, the title of the Winning Eleven series were significantly better than the ISS titles. In 2000, ISS Pro Evolution was released. The final title of the series for the Nintendo 64 was ISS 2000 ( Japan: Perfect Striker 2 ), and from 2001 ISS Pro Evolution 2 was released, followed by the first part of the Pro Evolution Soccer series ( Winning Eleven 5), was no longer plenty of space for the ISS. Nevertheless, three ISS titles were published. The last ISS 3 (2003), was the first game from the PC version was released. There are also three Game Boy Advance versions, which are based on various ISS Deluxe.
