Iraqi parliamentary election, January 2005

The election to the National Assembly in Iraq on 30 January 2005 has been the first choice in Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein.

In the elections 275 seats went. A total of 7,200 candidates appeared on 111 lists for the elections of the National Assembly. An important task of the new parliament was the drafting of the Iraqi constitution by August 15. With a turnout of 58 % of voters who register have to be a victory for the United Iraqi Alliance Ibrahim al - Jafari found.

There were at another party and independent candidates, all of whom missed a seat in Parliament.
