Iris Slappendel

Iris Slappendel (born 18 February 1985 in Gouda) is a Dutch cyclist and graphic designer.

Sports career

After Slappendel had won at the UCI Road World Championships 2003 the individual time trial of the junior bronze medal, 2004, she started her international career in cycling in the elite field at the Dutch cycling team Vrienden van het Platteland. In 2008, she was Unviversitätsweltmeisterin in the time trial. At the World Cup race Open de Suède Vårgårda she won in 2010 with her then Team Garmin - Cervélo, the team time trial. In 2012, she moved to Rabobank Women Cycling Team and thus became assistant to the multiple world champion Marianne Vos. At the same time she was able to achieve this year, her first individual World Cup victory in the one-day race of the Open de Suède Vårgårda, as they, with whom she had run away together Kupfernagel, defeated in two sprint. In the overall standings of the cycling World Cup Women's 2012 she finished seventh.
