Marianne Vos

Marianne Vos ( born May 13, 1987 in 's- Hertogenbosch ) is a Dutch cyclist. She is the most successful and most versatile cyclist of the Netherlands and the 2000/2010-er years on the road, rail and Road Racing active. In 2008 she was Olympic champion in the points race on the track and 2012 Olympic gold medalist in the road race.

Cycling career

Since 2001, Marianne Vos is active in the power cycling. In 2002 she became Dutch Youth Champion in the road race, drove at that time, however, mainly cross-country race. In 2004 she was at the Road World Championships in Verona, Junior World Champion in the road race.

In 2006, Vos in the elite class of women; since she always drives on the same team, which bears the name Rabobank Women Cycling Team since 2012. At the beginning of 2006, she was European and World Champion in cross in front of the German Hanka copper nail. On the road, she won the Dutch Department of Radmeisterschaft, and in October she became world champion in the road race in Salzburg.

By 2013, Marianne Vos had a total of twelve World Championship title on rail, road and won in the cross-country race, as well as 16 national titles (including two tracks on a mountain bike ) and two European titles. Twice she won Olympic gold medals in 2008 and 2012 in the points race in the road race. Five times they won the World Cup women's cycling and twice the Giro d'Italia Femminile. They also won around 30 relevant road race. When she her title defense for the second time at the UCI Road World Championships 2013, baptized an English newspaper she Flying Dutch Woman: "She rode out with the No. 1 on her back and rode home with her position as the greatest female cyclist underlined [. ..]. Honors

Between 2006 and 2013 Marianne Vos was awarded seven times as a Dutch cyclist of the year. 2008, 2009 and 2013, she was also in the Netherlands Sportswoman of the Year. 2013, it also received the international Velo Award for cyclist of the year.

Marianne Vox was honored with induction into the Hall of Fame of the European Cycling Union Union Européenne de Cyclisme.

In February 2010, the Mayor announced their home community Aalbuurg, that there is named " Marianne Vos fietsroute " a 29.5 km long cycle path for her.
