Tara Whitten

Tara Whitten ( born July 13, 1980 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a former Canadian cross-country skier and today's cyclist riding on rail and road.

Tara Whitten grew up in Edmonton. It's versatile sport-inclined; First she was active in cross-country and cross-country running. In cross-country skiing, she won at the 2003 Junior World Championships silver medal.

In 2008 she started cycling and immediately became two-time Canadian champion in the points race and in the individual pursuit and took two third places in the scratch and in the 500m time trial. In the 2008/2009 World Cup season, she took multiple podiums. In the UCI Track World Championships 2009 in Pruszków was Tara Whitten Vice World Champion in Omnium, 2010, in the Danish Ballerup double world champion in Omnium and Points race.

In the course of 2009 Whitten drove numerous road races. In June she won the overall title of the "Tour de Prince Edward Iceland "; three weeks later she was Canadian champion in the time trial on the road. In July 2009, she finished second in the individual time trial on the road at the Pan American Championships. The UCI Road World Championships 2009 in Mendrisio she finished eighth. A year later she won at the Commonwealth Games three bronze medals: in the team sprint, in the individual pursuit and points race. In the 2010/2011 season, she won the overall ranking of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in the Omnium and won at the end of the season, the World Cup in the same discipline. In the course of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup 2012 in London, she took together with Jasmin Glaesser and Gillian Carleton second place in the team pursuit. In the UCI Track World Championships 2012 in Melbourne, the Canadian team was third in the same occupation. She won the prologue of the stage race "The Exergy Tour", which she finished in 16th place in May 2012.

At the 2012 Olympic Games in London Tara Whitten won jointly with Gillian Carleton and Jasmin Glaesser the bronze medal in the team pursuit.

Tara Whitten has a university degree in biology and psychology from the University of Alberta and is aiming for a second degree in neuroscience at.
