Íþróttabandalag Akraness

Íþróttabandalag Akraness, better known as ÍA Akranes, is a football club from the Icelandic town of Akranes, whose football team is relegated from the first Icelandic league. The club colors are black and yellow. The Akranesvöllur Stadium has a capacity of 4,850 seats.

History

The club was founded in 1946 and was already five years later national champion. Since then enter ÍA Akranes 18 title wins and nine cup wins. ÍA Akranes was one of the few football clubs Islands that could compete with teams from Reykjavík. Since 2009, the club only played in the second division, but in 2011 the rise was to be celebrated in the Pepsideild, 2013, the club was relegated as a Table again.
