Reviews
Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun - Times, the film was one of the " funniest " and " intelligent " films of the year 1984. Drew Barrymore is the right candidates for their role because they this role with "serious serenity " ( "grave calm" ) games. It would have been a mistake when they would try to be funny. Ryan O'Neal am not one of the favorite actors of Ebert, but he had the right cast his role and he played this role well.
Georg Seeßlen wrote in his book, Drew Barrymore, the film tells a " filial emancipation history" and was " plenty of sentimental ".
