Isaac Nicola

Isaac Noel Nicola Romero (* April 11, 1916 in Havana, † July 14, 1997 ) was a Cuban guitarist and music educator.

Life

Nicola studied guitar with his mother Clara Romero and Emilio Pujol in 1937 in Paris. He explored the Spanish plucked vihuela in Paris, London, Madrid, Barcelona and New York. He has performed and taught at home and abroad. In 1951 he became professor of guitar at the Conservatorio Municipal de La Habana, where he worked for nearly fifty years and whose director he was. Nicola was a teacher several well-known Cuban guitarists as Leo Brouwer.
