Isidore Barbarin

John Isidore Barbarin (* September 24, 1872 in New Orleans, † June 12, 1960 ) was an American cornetist and alto horn player of the New Orleans Jazz.

Barbarin began to play with fifteen years of cornet. He was in the Onward Brass Band, the Excelsior Brass Band, and the Tuxedo Brass Band of Papa Celestin. His main job was coachmen.

He made ​​his recording debut in 1945 with a band led by Bunk Johnson ( Bunk 's Brass Band, he played alto horn there, taken at the home of George Lewis) and 1946 he took with the original Zenith Brass Band on (as Mellophone player).

His four sons were also musicians: the drummer Paul Barbarin, Louis Barbarin and Lucien Barbarin (1905-1960) and the cornetist William Barbarin ( 1907-1973 ).
