Isla Natividad

Isla Natividad is an arid Mexican island in the Pacific Ocean 6 km from Punta Eugenia on the northwestern peninsula of the State of Baja California Sur, separated from it by the Canal de Deway, and 15 km south of Isla de Cedros. The island is barren and hilly.

Isla Natividad is part of the municipality of Mulege, is 7.1 km long and 2.9 km wide maximum in the southeast, and reaching a height of 150 meters in the center .. 8.665 km ² and counted 384 inhabitants to the 2001 census, mainly fishermen on abalone, crayfish, lobster and mussels in place Natividad in the southeast. 200 m off the north west coast is the 7.4 hectare rock islet Maria Roca. In the North Island there is a lighthouse, the village of the same name in the southeast as well as a landing strip.

In particular, in the 1940s, the mining of guano was significant at Natividad. Today, the island is part of the Biosphere Reserve El Vizcaíno. But it is also considered good for surfing.
