Islands is the seventh studio album by the Canadian folk and country - rock group The Band. It was published on 15 March 1977 on the Capitol Records label. Iceland was the last studio album recorded the band in its original cast. In fact, the group had given their legendary farewell concert, The Last Waltz already on Thanksgiving in 1976, which should now be released on Warner Bros. Records, and recorded the album in just to meet her what is effectively a total of ten albums contract with Capitol. Following the publication of Iceland, the band broke up.

Islands was a great success in any respect. In the U.S. Billboard album charts, the album only reached number 64, the criticism was not enthusiastic excessively. Compared to the rest of their discography Islands applies in retrospect as one of the weakest albums of Canadians.

The Single Georgia on My Mind, a cover version of Hoagy Carmichael 's classic from 1930, with the band Jimmy Carter wanted to support presidential nomination, had rather limited commercial success and failed on a chart entry.
