Bifurkationssee

The Isojärvi is a lake in the Finnish landscape Satakunta. It is the largest of a total of 31 of the same Finnish lakes.

Its southern part is located in the municipality Pomarkku, the northern part belongs to Siikainen. The 38.82 km ² and 34.8 m high lake is part of the river system of the Karvianjoki. The Isojärvi represents a so-called Bifurkationssee dar. He has two outflows. The majority of its water flows over the Merikarvianjoki north to the Gulf of Bothnia. A small portion flows through the Salmusoja to the lake Poosjärvi and on about the rivers Poosjoki, Lampinjoki Pohjajoki and the Gulf of Bothnia.
