Ivan Bogorov

Ivan Andreev Bogorov ( Bulgarian Иван Андреев Богоров; * 1818 in Karlovo, † November 1, 1892 in Sofia) was a Bulgarian doctor, encyclopedist, promoters of education, the Bulgarian language and reconnaissance aircraft from the period of the Bulgarian National Revival. He is the author of the first grammar of the early Bulgarian language.

Biography

Ivan Bogorov was born in the Balkan Mountains located in the town of Karlovo 1818. He learned in the famous Greek secondary school Fener Rum Lisesi Erkek Opel in Constantinople (now Instambul ), where he was sent by his family. In school, on the Bosporus, he made friends with Georgi Sava Rakovsky, the Bogoridis, Gavril Krastewitsch, Sawa Dobroplodni and other Bulgarians should play a central role in the history of Bulgaria. 1826, with 19 he finished high school and went to Odessa, where Bogorov entered the Richelieu colleague.

1841 published Bogorov the Bulgarian coat of arms from the book Stemmatographia (1741 ) of Christofor Schefarowitsch. Between 1845 and 1847 studied Bogorov chemistry at the University of Leipzig. After 1847 Bogorov returned to Constantinople Opel and wrote for the newspaper Zarigradski Westinik ( Bulg " Цариградски вестник " = Konstantin Opel newspaper ). In Constantinople, Opel he belongs to the conservative circles in the Bulgarian community in the Ottoman capital. In his article, he insists incessantly for the independence of the Bulgarian church (see Bulgarian Exarchate ).

Bogorov was a well known advocate of linguistic purism and an avowed opponent of the Greek and Russian influence in the Bulgarian language. In his works to Bogorov leans on to the neologism. Some introduced by him in the literary Bulgarian language words are still used today ( вестник as / = Vestnik newspaper, часовник / Tschasownik = wristwatch пратеник / Pratenik = messenger ).
