Ivan Lunardi

Ivan Lunardi ( born May 15, 1973 in Asiago ) is an Italian former ski jumper.

Career

In 1986 he became junior world champion on the large hill in the American Lake Placid. In the following years he was next to Roberto Cecon the only Italian who was one of the world leaders in the Ski Jumping World Cup and is to this day the most successful Italian ski jumper Cecon of all time.

However, until 1992 it reached only places in the athletic midfield. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 1991 in Val di Fiemme, he reached in front of his home crowd at the big hill only the 35th, on the normal hill even just the 60th rank.

It was not until the following winter came his career back on track. On 10 January 1992, he reached fourth place in Predazzo. About a month later, he was at the Olympic Winter Games in 1992 Seventh on the large hill and 22 on the normal hill, then in March ninth in the Skiflugweltmeisterschft in Harrachov.

The following winter he celebrated his greatest successes. In the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun, he reached the fourth on the normal hill, large hill on the ninth. On March 7, 1993, he then won on the large hill in Lahti for the first but also the only time a World Cup competition.

In the following years he was unable to repeat this success. In the winters of 1994/95 and 1995/96 he took a break and did not participate in international competitions. After his return to the World Cup in February 1997 it reached only rarely the second round. After the 1999/2000 season, he finished his career.
