Ivari Padar

Ivari Padar ( born March 12, 1965 at the village Navi, Estonia) is an Estonian politician. From 2002 to 2009 he was chairman of the Estonian (SDE ) Social Democratic Party. Since April 2014 Padar is in the cabinet of Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Estonia.

Early years

Ivari Padar in 1984 his education at the industrial pilot plant Võru. After that, he was until 1989 a farmer and carpenter. 1991/92 he worked as a primary school teacher in Võru. 1993/94 he held the office of Deputy Mayor of Võru. After that, he was in 1994/95 Chairman of the Association of Farmers in the district Võru. From 1995 to 1997 he was personal assistant to the State Secretary of the Estonian Ministry of Finance. In 1995 he graduated from the history of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Tartu.

Policy

In 1999, Ivari Padar the predecessor of today's Estonia Party Social Democratic Party in. After a short stint in the private sector as a senior director of the company Hansatee Hulgi AS was Ivari Padar 1999-2002 Minister of Agriculture in the cabinet of Prime Minister Mart Laar. 2002/2003 he was an employee of the company AS Tallink Duty Free before he was elected in 2003 as a deputy to the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ). From 2002 to 2005 he was also chairman of the City Council of Võru.

From December 2002 to March 2009 was Padar Chairman of the Estonian Social Democratic Party. The Estonian parliament he was a member from 2003 to 2007 as deputy. Inter alia Padar was Chairman of the Socialist Group.

From 2007 to 2009 Padar was in the cabinet of Prime Minister of Finance of the Republic of Estonia. In 2009, he was briefly a member of the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ). In the European elections, he was elected to the European Parliament as MP for the Social Democrats in 2009.

Since April 7, 2014 with Estonian Minister of Agriculture in the social-liberal coalition government of Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas.

Private life

Ivari Padar is married and has a daughter and a son.
