Ivica Å urjak

Ivica Surjak ( born March 23, 1953 in Split, Yugoslavia, now Croatia), real first name Ivo, nicknamed Suro, is a former Yugoslav football player.

The 1.90 m wide winger and midfielder was one of the so-called " golden generation " of the 1970s the club Hajduk Split. He distinguished himself by his speed, his excellent dribbling, his hard shot and his great running and fighting strength.

Career

Association

Surjak his debut for Hajduk Split in the first division of Yugoslavia on 3 October 1971 at the match against Partizan Belgrade, scoring the 2-1 victory. In the following years he won with Hajduk three times the Yugoslav championship and five times the Yugoslav Cup.

In 1981, the Croat in the first French League Paris SG and won the French Cup there. In 1982 he hired the Italian club Udinese Calcio, before two years later he went to Spain to Real Zaragoza, where he was a year later ended his career.

National

For the Yugoslav national football team Surjak played for the first time on June 6, 1973 in a 0-0 draw against Spain in Zagreb. With the Football World Cup 1974 in Germany, he played five times and scored two goals. In the European Football Championship in 1976 and the Football World Cup 1982 he was employed four or three times and stayed in each case without scoring.

In total, he completed 54 games for Yugoslavia, scoring 10 goals.

After playing career

Between 1999 and 2003 Surjak held the post of sporting director at his home club Hajduk. From April 2007 until the summer of 2008, he was hired again there, which ruled over the exact name of the business disagreement. He is currently a member of the management Hajduk.
