Ivo Belet

Ivo Belet ( born June 7, 1959 in Sint- Truiden ) is a Belgian politician of the party Christian - Democratisch en Vlaams (CD & V). Since 2004 he is a member of the European Parliament.

Life

Belet studied German at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and graduated in 1981 with a master's from. He then went to study at the Limburg Universitair Centrum ( LUC ), the predecessor of today's University of Hasselt, Diepenbeek There, he acquired a Bachelor in Economics (1988) and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing (1996). As an intern, he worked in both the European Parliament and the European Commission.

In 1989, Belet as a journalist for the Dutch-speaking broadcaster VRT. On 13 June 2004 Belet was elected as a deputy in the European Parliament and confirmed in the 2009 European elections in office. He is a member of the Group of the European People's Party and European Democrats, and the Committee on Culture and Education and the Delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia.

Belet lives in Hasselt, is married and father of two children.
