Ixtlahuacan is a rural municipality in the Mexican state of Colima embossed. The name comes from the Nahuatl and means arid place without trees and houses. Administrative seat and largest town of the Municipalities is the same Ixtlahuacan.

Geography

In the north and east Ixtlahuacan borders the municipality of Colima, in the west and south by Tecomán. In the southeast Ixtlahuacan has a small common border with the state of Michoacán.

Economy

Ixtlahuacan is mainly characterized by its agriculture (especially citrus fruits ) and livestock.

Tourism

Among the tourist attractions include the stalactite cave in San Gabriel, the pre-Hispanic cemetery " Tumbas de Tiro " and the seaside resort of " La Toma ".
