The "Blue source " of Iza

The Iza (Romanian Raul Iza ) is a 83 km long left tributary of the Tisza in Maramureş County in northern Romania.

The Iza has a catchment area of 1303 km ². It rises at an altitude of 1380 m in Rodnaer Mountains and flows in a northwesterly direction. Places in the Valley of Iza are Salistea de Sus, Dragomireşti, Bârsana, Vadu Izei and Sighetu Marmaţiei. In place Vadu Izei the Mara joins the Iza. The Iza flows shortly thereafter Sighetu Marmaţiei at an altitude of 268 m in the Tisza; those where it forms the border river of Ukraine.
