Jablonec nad Nisou District

The Okres Jablonec nad Nisou (German: District Gablonz ) was a territorial entity in the Liberec Region (Region Reichenberg ) in the Czech Republic. The Okresy were roughly comparable to the districts in Germany, the district administrations were dissolved on 31 December 2002. The district was located in northern Bohemia and extended from the Jizera Mountains to the Bohemian Paradise.

The Okres Jablonec nad Nisou part 402 km ² and 88,000 inhabitants of the smallest districts of the Czech Republic, with the population density of 220 inhabitants / km ², however, he is one of the ten most densely populated. In Okres there are 34 municipalities ( Obec ) with 116 districts ( část obcí ).

55 % of the area is covered by forests, 32 % is used for agriculture. The okres counts 34 municipalities, of which seven cities where 80 % of the population lives.

Of the 21,000 company ranks fourth on the economic sector trade. However, the industry is still the main focus with the manufacture of furniture, glass, porcelain and construction articles. The largest employer is Preciosa. Agriculture plays an almost negligible role. Gross wages paid below the national average, the unemployment rate is 8.2 %.

With natural beauty and historical monuments, the region is a tourist destination. In the Jizera Mountains there are many walking and hiking trails, winter sports is very important. Attractions are
