Jacek Protasiewicz

Jacek Protasiewicz ( born June 5, 1967 in Brzeg ) is a Polish politician, Platforma Obywatelska ( Civic Platform ).

Protasiewicz attended the University of Breslau. He first worked as a spokesman for the voivode of Wroclaw province, as assistant to the chairman of the Council of the city of Wroclaw, as director of the Office of Public Relations and cooperation with other countries of the city administration and Wroclaw as a press spokesman for the city of Wroclaw.

Protasiewicz was a member of the national executive and chairman of the Regional Council of Wroclaw KLD, then a board member of the UW and its Chairman in the region, Breslau, and from 2001 member of the board of the PO and its chairman in Wroclaw. For the UW he was a few years at the Parliament of the Lower Silesia, where he was from 1998 to 2001 Chairman of the Committee on Tourism, Sport and Recreation and the fraction. From 2001 to 2004 he was a member of the Sejm. In 2004 he was an observer, and later Member of the European Parliament. Since 18 January 2012, he is Vice President of the Parliament there, also he is Chairman of the Delegation for relations with Belarus.

On February 26, 2014 Protasiewicz was arrested at Frankfurt airport after he insulted customs officials. Time of the crime Protasiewicz said to have been the influence of alcohol.
