Jack Daniel

Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel (September 5, 1846 in Lynchburg, Tennessee, † October 10, 1911 ) was an American entrepreneur and founder of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey distillery.

Jack Daniel was probably born in 1846 as the tenth child of Calaway and Lucinda Daniel in Lynchburg. His exact date of birth is disputed. The details vary from 1846 to 1848 to 1850. Daniels grave stone on the year 1850 is given as year of birth, but since his mother died in 1847 is the date of birth in 1846 most likely. The company Jack Daniel's produced, citing 1850 as Daniel's birth year in 2000 on the occasion of his 150th birthday, a special edition of the whiskey.
