Jack Stephens (set decorator)

Jack Stephens is a British art director and production designer who won an Oscar for Best Production Design, and again was nominated for the Oscar.

Life

Stephens began his career as an art director and production designer in the film industry in 1949 with the film Great Day ( Cardboard Cavalier ) and worked until 1986 at the scenic features of almost fifty films.

At the Academy Awards in 1981 he won together with Pierre Guffroy the Oscar for Best Production Design in the film drama Tess (1979 ) by Roman Polanski with Nastassja Kinski, Peter Firth and Leigh Lawson in the lead roles.

In 1987 he was nominated once again with Stuart Craig for an Oscar in this category, namely for the scene image in Mission (1986 ) Roland Joffé from Robert De Niro, Jeremy Irons and Ray McAnally.
