Jackson Chanet

Jackson Chanet ( born February 7, 1978 in Saint- Dizier ) is a French former boxer and European champion in the amateurs and professionals.

Amateur career

The 1.73 m tall son of the heavyweight European Champion Jean -Maurice Chanet began at the age of twelve years with the sport of boxing and denied his amateur career exclusively in the heavyweight division. It was 1995 French Junior Champion, and 1998, 1999 and 2000 French champion. In May 1999, he launched the internationally occupied French French Open tournament, where he could auspunkten the highly assessed Nigerian Samuel Peter and only lost in the semifinals against Italian Giacobbe Fragomeni.

By each third place in the Finnish Tammer Tournament (October 1999) and the Greek Acropolis Cup ( December 1999), he qualified for participation at the 33rd European Championships in Tampere in 2000. There he was able to prevail against Sebastian Köber from Germany, Magomed Aripgadschiew from Azerbaijan, Emil Garai from Hungary and Sultan Ibragimov of Russia, and thus won the gold medal. Along with winning the English Multi Nations Tournament in Liverpool, he had also qualified for participation in the Summer Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000. There he came by a premature victory against Mohamed Azzaoui from Algeria to the quarterfinals, where he this time against the Russians Sultan Ibragimov suffered a defeat point and was eliminated in 6th place.

Professional career

After the Olympics, he became a professional and won his first 26 fights in a row. He defeated among others Zoltán Béres and became French champion in the light heavyweight division, and EU champion in the super middleweight division. On 18 November 2005 he won the European title EBU Super Middleweight; he defeated while the undefeated Ukrainian Vitaly Tsipko by unanimous decision. However, he lost the title in his first defense already by knockout loss to the Armenians Mher Mkrttschjan.

A renewed attempt to secure the EM belt failed on 2 December 2006, point defeat to David Gogia from Russia. After a knockout loss on 7 January 2011 against Serb Geard Ajetovic, he finished his boxing career with a record of 29 wins ( 15 Ko) and 3 losses.
