Jackson Woods

Jackson Woods (born 1 February 1993 Latrobe ( Tasmania ) ) is an Australian boxer in the flyweight and participants of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Woods began boxing in 2006, in which he won the Tasmanian youth titles. Starting this year, he took part each year in the Australian Youth or Junior Championships, the first time he could win in 2010. In the same year he was nominated for the Australian team for the Junior World Championships in Baku, where he reached the quarterfinals. In 2011 he started at the Youth Commonwealth Games in the Isle of Man and won the silver medal. The following year he took part for the first time at the Australian Championships men that he could win right away. As a result, he took part in the oceanic Olympic qualifying tournament, which he won with a final victory against the Papua Neuguineaner Kauko Raka (RSC 3).

In preparation for his first Olympic participation Woods took part in three international tournaments in Eastern Europe in May 2012. In Belgrade, he lost by abortion in the 3rd round against Magomed Abdurakhmanov, Russia, and in Kaunas point defeat against Andrew Selby, Wales ( 14:7 ). At the tournament in Minsk he was somewhat successful: Woods won on points against Koryun Soghomonyan, Armenia ( 12:8 ) and Dmitriy Strigelskiy, Belarus ( 21:16 ), but lost in the semifinals on points against Nurgazy Zhusupov, Kazakhstan.
