Old village Jacobswoude

The village is named after an abandoned Jacobswoude from the mid-18th century village with the same name. The inhabitants of this village, which had become an island, moved to Woubrugge. At the point where the former village Jacobswoude stood, there is a monument with the following text:

  • North side: "Her- ring held in het dorp verdwenen Jacobswoude "
  • East side: " 1747-1936 "
  • " Verduras muren Geen of uuren geweld ": South

The province of South Holland is planning to build a new monument with a poem by Anton Korteweg.
