Jacopo Ligozzi

Jacopo Ligozzi (* 1547 in Verona, † 1627 in Florence) was an Italian painter.

Life

Jacopo Ligozzi came from a family of artists. His father was the painter Giovanni Ermanno Ligozzi. In the workshop of his father, who had entered the service of the Prince-Bishop of Trent Cristoforo Madruzzo 1557, Jacopo received his education. His first works were for clients in the region: in 1567 he signed with his father an altarpiece for the New Year's church in Lomaso, already in 1556 he had only completed an altarpiece for the church of San Antonio Abate in Bivedo. 1577 (or 1578) he followed the call of Francesco I de ' Medici, the Grand Duke of Tuscany to Florence. He first made primarily by its lifelike images a name.
