Jacques Deny

Jacques Deny (* 1916 in Algiers, then French Algeria ) is a French mathematician who with Analysis (especially potential theory ) deals.

Deny received in 1938 his Agrégation in mathematics and a doctorate in Strasbourg in 1949 with Henri Cartan. He was a professor at the University of Paris-Sud (Paris XI) in Orsay. With Marcel Brelot ( of this 1956, ) and Gustave Choquet he had a seminar in potential theory in Paris. He also worked on the theory of distributions, differential equations and topology. About his work in potential theory (his dissertation) in the Seminar Bourbaki already Jacques -Louis Lions held in 1951 a lecture, as well as Deny yourself in the Seminar Bourbaki 1956/57 and 1959/60 (works on Dirichleträume of Arne Beurling, with whom he also collaborated ) gave lectures on potential theory. 1955/56, 1957 and 1962 he was at the Institute for Advanced Study.

His PhD is one of Paul -André Meyer.
