Jadowniki, Lesser Poland Voivodeship

Jadowniki is a village in the powiat Brzesko in the Malopolska province in Poland. Jadowniki belongs to the urban and rural community Brzesko. The population is about 5014 inhabitants.

Location

Jadowniki is located about 3 km east of Brzesko and 55 kilometers east of Krakow. The highway 4 ( European route 40) in the north is 1 km away.

History

The first historical mention learned the place in the chronicle of Wielkopolska Godzisława Baszki in the years 1195-1196 used as the monks of the Benedictine monastery of Hebdowa the Vistula river on the transport of tithing. In the thirteenth century, the village was an important settlement since it was on the route from Krakow to Rus. In the years 1249 - 1272 there was a church in the village. After the Magdeburg Law Jadowniki received in 1357 by King Kazimierz the Great, the right to a church, a mill and a Gastgaus. 1975-1998 belonged to Jadowniki Voivodeship Tarnów.
