Jafar Salmasi

Mohammad Jafar Salmasi ( born September 22, 1918 in Tehran, † January 31, 2000 ibid; Persian محمد جعفر سلماسی ) was an Iranian weightlifter and participants of the Olympic Summer Games 1948 in London.

At the Olympic Summer Games 1948 in London he won in his weight class (60 kg) bronze medal and placed it in the category tearing with 100 kg of a new Olympic record. Mohammad Jafar Salmasi won in this discipline the gold medal at the Asian Games of 1951, held in New Delhi.

In 2000 died the Iranian athlete, who won the first medal of an Iranian athlete in Olympic Games, at the age of 81 years in Tehran.
