Don Jaime de Marichalar y Sáenz de Tejada ( born April 7, 1963 in Pamplona, ​​Navarre ) was the husband of Elena of Spain.

Life

Jaime de Marichalar y Sáenz de Tejada is the fourth of six children of the Earl of Ripalda, Amalio de Marichalar y Bruguera and his wife, Concepción Sáenz de Tejada y Fernández de Bobadilla.

His education was Jaime at the Jesuit schools in Burgos and San Estanislao de Kostka in Madrid and at the Yago School in Dublin ( Ireland). after finishing school, he studied economics and specialized in marketing and business management. In 1986, he gained practical experience in various financial companies in Paris, where he lived until 1998. After several years working in the international financial sector Don Jaime was founded in 1998 Head and Director of Credit Suisse in Madrid and also President of the Winterthur Foundation, which supports numerous cultural activities. Since 1998 he lives in Madrid.

In December 2001 the Duke suffered a stroke. In 2002, he suffered a bout of weakness in an airplane. After lengthy rehabilitation, the Duke is considered recovered.

Marriage and children

On March 18, 1995 married Don Jaime de Marichalar Princess Elena of Spain in the Cathedral of Seville. Since his marriage Don Jaime has the title Duke of Lugo. The couple has two children and in July 2003, Princess Elena suffered a miscarriage:

  • Felipe Juan Froilán de Todos los Santos de Marichalar y de Borbón ( born July 17, 1998, Madrid)
  • Victoria Federica de Marichalar y de Borbón (born 9 September 2000 in Madrid)

On 13 November 2007 the separation of the couple by Spanish newspapers was announced. The divorce was made on 21 January 2010.
