Jaime Gómez (Mexican footballer)

Jaime Munguia David Gómez ( born December 29, 1929 in Manzanillo, State of Colima; † 4 May 2008) was a Mexican football goalkeeper who played from 1949 to 1964 for Chivas Guadalajara and part of the legendary team was that between the nine 1957 and 1965 champion seven times and was given the nickname " Campeonísimo ". He was also known by his nickname " El Tubo " (the pipe ).

Life

Jaime Gómez made ​​his international debut on February 26, 1956 against Costa Rica (1-1) and was nominated for the FIFA World Cups in 1958 and 1962 as one of three goalkeepers. Although Gómez was an excellent weakly, he had the misfortune to be the " eternal number two " behind the Mexican goalkeeper Antonio Carbajal legend. He only came to a total of eight international appearances. To a world applications, however, he did not come.

Gómez died aged 78 on 4 May 2008 of cancer of the pancreas.
